Monkey — 3D glass painting by Jean-Pierre Weill: a monkey resting and watching the world float by

Monkey: Sometimes I Like to Stop, Breathe, and Watch the World Float By

A monkey hangs from a pink balloon in a blue sky full of clouds. He is going nowhere. He is watching everything. He seems completely fine with this arrangement.

    The Work

Monkey is a 3D painting on glass from Jean-Pierre Weill Studios. The monkey hangs at the center of the composition, the balloon above him, clouds drifting at their own pace behind him. Built layer by layer from behind the glass surface, the scene has a stillness that is almost contagious. You look at it and your shoulders drop slightly. This painting says: stop, take a step back, watch the world float by. If only for a moment.

For the Person Who Forgets to Pause

Monkey works as a mindfulness gift, a desk or office gift for someone who runs too fast, or simply original handmade wall art for anyone who appreciates the radical act of doing nothing for a moment and watching the sky. It is also genuinely funny, which helps.

Collectors drawn to the stillness of Monkey may also find that quality in Bear, where a polar bear floats through the sky on the same unhurried logic, and in Daydreams, where two mushroom houses sit in tall grass with no particular agenda.
