Since October 7th, 2023, life in Israel has been profoundly altered. Thousands of families have been displaced, their homes destroyed, and their lives uprooted. At Jean-Pierre Weill Studios, we believe in the power of art to connect, heal, and inspire hope. This belief guided our recent initiative: combining heartfelt words and 3D painting on glass to provide solace and beauty to those navigating unimaginable loss.
Last month, we invited you—our incredible community—to write notes of solidarity for families displaced since the events of October 7th. Your heartfelt messages, paired with our glass art, became deeply meaningful gestures of comfort.
To ensure these families felt the warmth of collective care, we prepared hundreds of 3D wall art pieces, designed not only as beautiful living room wall decor but as tokens of connection and hope. Each piece, with its vibrant colors and intricate designs, was created to serve as a unique gift that could brighten their temporary homes and remind them they are not alone.
We drove to the caravans housing members of Kibbutz Be’eri, where the displaced families are starting to rebuild their lives amidst deep grief. Each person we met welcomed us with kindness, sharing their stories..
Hadas, whose husband covered her body with his as a missile destroyed the building - she was the only survivor - came around with tears in her eyes to give each of us a big hug. She chose Home and Together.
Esther invited us into her house to use the washroom and, as she stirred a pot of rice pointed to a photo over the living room couch - of her murdered daughter and grandson. Cranes in Winter now graces her home, a reminder that we are all in this together.
Isaac was miraculously saved, as his caretaker held the door against the terrorists trying to break in, and the doorknob on the other side broke. He wouldn't let us leave without a paper bag of avocados from the community fruit trees. He chose Open Birdcage for his living room.
Our meeting reinforced the profound impact of art—how a simple wall hanging can transform a space into a sanctuary of comfort and remembrance.
Art has always been a bridge between emotions and expression. In these temporary homes, our 3D wall art became symbols of renewal. Families found solace in the whimsical stories and detailed craftsmanship of the pieces.
As part of this initiative, your notes of solidarity were paired with our gifts—because we believe deeply in building connection.
As an artful home reflects love and care, so too did this project reflect the shared values of our community. Each piece of glass art gifted served as a reminder that even amidst adversity, there is beauty, hope, and solidarity. . Thank you for being part of this mission and bringing more compassion into the world.
Let us know how you continue to use art to transform your own spaces or support those in need. After all, the journey of creating beauty is never complete—it’s a masterpiece in progress.
