I'm probably the last person who should critique a work of art; I spent my life as a machinist, draftsman, and tool-designer. All of that did, however, instill an appreciation of balanced composition, proportion, scale, and geometric flow. "Cat" is pleasing from all of these perspectives. The three-dimensional perspective is so well-crafted that it enhances the other features.
I read once that art - real art - leaves you feeling as if your life was just a little bit better for having experienced it. "Cat" passes this test, too. I find myself whisked back to various episodes in time when I whiled away a pleasant few minutes watching a pretty girl play with and cuddle her cat. It's a nice feeling; I enjoy revisiting it.
Physically, the piece is quite sturdily-constructed and compact. It can stand freely or be hung on a wall with equal security. The compact size easily facilitates someone living or working in a limited space.
