Sweet Year — 3D glass painting by Jean-Pierre Weill: apples and honey for a sweet Rosh Hashanah

Sweet Year: May This Year Be Full of Sweetness

There is a child in this painting curled inside a pomegranate, a bear beside them, a honey jar at their feet. The jar says it in Hebrew: a sweet year. The whole painting says it in paint and glass and warmth.

    The Work

Sweet Year is a 3D painting on glass from Jean-Pierre Weill Studios. A child sits nestled inside a large pomegranate with a bear, surrounded by the traditional symbols of Rosh Hashanah: pomegranates, apples, honey. Built in layers behind the glass, the figures sit forward, the fruits and vines receding softly behind them. The painting is bursting with sweetness and traditional symbolic blessings of pomegranates, apples and honey. We wish you a sweet year, a year of emotional security, love, and a pervasive sense of wellbeing.

The Rosh Hashanah Gift That Means Something

Sweet Year works as a Rosh Hashanah gift, a Jewish New Year card that stays on the wall long after the holiday, or original Jewish art for anyone who wants to mark the new year with something more permanent than honey cake.

Collectors drawn to the spirit of Sweet Year may also find that quality in Shalom, where a dove carries the word of peace in its wings and text from the story of Noah transforms the painting into a promise for a better future, and in Mazal, where a figure climbs toward a golden crown and the blessing is written in the climb itself.
