Dove — 3D glass painting by Jean-Pierre Weill: a dove carrying a sweet promise of peace

Dove: A Sweet Promise for a Peaceful Future

Some symbols carry so much weight that they barely need explaining. A fluttering dove. An olive branch. The word Shalom painted beneath them both.

    The Work

Dove shows a dove in full flight, olive branch held in its beak, wings open against a background of Stars of David in soft blues and golds. The word Shalom sits beneath it. Built using the studio's unique technique, the dove flutters forward from the glass surface, caught mid-motion, as if it just arrived with news.

    Why Shalom

Shalom means peace. It also means hello, and goodbye, and wholeness. It is one of those words that does more work than it appears to. Weill chose it as the foundation of this work because peace is not a passive thing. It is something you carry. Something you bring with you when you enter a room.

    A Meaningful Jewish Gift

Dove works as a Jewish home gift, a Rosh Hashanah gift, a bar or bat mitzvah gift, or simply as Jewish wall art for anyone who wants something on their wall that holds a real prayer in it.

Collectors drawn to the spirit of Dove may also find that quality in Shalom, where the word itself becomes the image, and in Jerusalem Prayer, where letters float in the air around the Heavenly Temple we build through acts of kindness.
